The Kamaraja Kilitoddhara Upanishad is a rare, minor Shakta-Tantric Upanishad associated with the worship of the Goddess and the secret decoding (kilitoddhara) of the powerful Kamaraja mantra (Panchadashi). It is classified as a Shakta Upanishad, focusing on Devi worship and esoteric mantra science (mantra-shastra). 

The text deals with the unlocking (kilitoddhara—the removal of the seal or pin/kilaka) of the Kamaraja seed syllables, explaining how the components of the sacred phonetic formulas map to cosmic principles, deities, and spiritual attainment. 

The text breaks down letters and syllables (akshara) into three sections, correlating them with cosmic principles like Kama (desire/creator seed), Shakti, Turiya, the sun (divakara), moon (chandra), and Maya.  

The first section describes the benefits of upâsanâ of Kâmarâja. It gives the structure of the related mantras (pañchâkshara, ca akshara, chaturakshara) involving the bîjas of Vâgbhava, Kâmarâja and Úakti, and explains that the mantra remains locked (kîlita) until activated through Manmatha-kalâ etc., after which it becomes nickîlita and grants siddhis, including control over the three worlds. 

The section two stresses that the two modes of upâsanâ (Shâmbhava and Shâkta) must be learned from a guru. It elaborates a 15-syllable form, the attitude of identity with Shiva (pûrno’ham Shivo’ham…), continuous japa without strict vows, and Kaula-oriented practices involving Shakti, bhoga, and attainment of mokca through enjoyment. The thier section is simple worship instructions (with vakula or red flowers, or water, or pure mental devotion).

Recitation and meditation upon this secret doctrine are said to bestow well-being (kushala), prosperity/wealth (shri), eloquent and weighty speech (gurvi vani), and magnetic charm (sarvayuvatinam priyo bhavet).
