How to develop Personality

For Personality Development, 12 simple yet crucial tips should be follow: 1. Know yourself Obviously before you get on developing something you need to know all about it first. The same goes with your personality. One needs to start with taking a good look at themselves, analyzing their traits, the strengths and weaknesses and everything that needs to be worked upon. Don’t shy away from accepting your flaws and learn about yourself as much as you can. 2. Bring positivity in your outlook Your thoughts and your actions both need to be positive in order to have an attractive personality. The way we think has a lot of effect on the way how we act. Savitribai Phule's Poem: And you yearn not for the same

And you yearn not for the same, You posses intellect but work not on the same, How then can you be called a human being? Birds, animals, monkeys, human beings too, All go through life and death But if you gain no knowledge about this, How then can you be called a human being? --- Savitribai Phule

Bavan Kashi Subodh Ratnakar (The Ocean of Pure Gems): collection of Savitribai Phule’s poems

Collection of Savitri’s poems, Bavan Kashi Subodh Ratnakar (The Ocean of Pure Gems), was published in 1891. It is a biography, in verse, of Mahatma Phule, as Jotirao came to be known, towards the end of his life. Jotiba had developed a devastating critique of the Brahmin interpretation of Maratha history in the ancient and medieval periods. Savitri’s biography was as much about the Maratha history as it was about her illustrious husband. Savitri also edited and published four of Jotiba’s speeches on Indian history. A few of her own speeches were published in 1892. Theirs was an unusual relationship, which was more like friendship. They were committed to one another and their social work. They had a harmonious, blissful and fulfilling relationship. This can be seen from the following poems reproduced below. Above all, they were equals in the relationship. Notice how she refers to her husband by name. This was truly revolutionary for her time. Path to Domestic Bliss Jotiba fills my life

Savitribai Phule's Quotes

“The lack of learning is nothing but gross bestiality. It is through the acquisition of knowledge that (he) loses his lower status and achieves the higher one.” “My husband is a god-like man. He is beyond comparison in this world, nobody can equal him.” “We shall overcome and success will be ours in the future. The future belongs to us.” “The year 1876 has gone, but the famine has not – it stays in most horrendous forms here. The people are dying. The animals are dying, falling on the ground.” “You have started the benevolent and welfare work for the poor and the needy. I also want to carry my share of the responsibility. I assure you I will always help you. I wish the godly work will be helped by more people.”

How to Forgive Someone Who Did You Wrong

Image
Photo by People Images/Getty Images We all know that letting go of a perceived slight is a lot better than harboring a grudge , but let's be real here— forgiving someone can be very, very hard to do. However, holding onto all the times that someone has wronged you can have a negative effect on your health , and people who forgive others often report that they later feel happier, and even lighter, in a sense. In fact, a 2015 study on forgiveness and physical activity showed that when participants who remembered a time when they refused to forgive someone, they judged hills to be about 5 degrees steeper than those who recalled making amends. Forgivers also jumped an average of 3 inches higher in a fitness test than their still-bitter counterparts, suggesting that ill will can literally bring you down. Plus, when you hold a grudge, you tend to stew over it. This can deplete the availability of certain cognitive-boosting resource

Two Arctic Fish Are Breaking the Rules of Genetics

Image
To survive in the frigid ocean waters around the Arctic and Antarctica, marine life evolved many defenses against the lethal cold. One common adaptation is the ability to make antifreezing proteins (AFPs) that prevent ice crystals from growing in blood, tissues, and cells. It’s a solution that has evolved repeatedly and independently, not just in fish but in plants, fungi, and bacteria. It isn’t surprising, then, that herrings and smelts, two groups of fish that commonly roam the northernmost reaches of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, both make AFPs. But it is very surprising, even weird, that both fish do so with the same AFP gene—particularly because their ancestors diverged more than 250 million years ago and the gene is absent from all the other fish species related to them. A March 2021 paper in Trends in Genetics holds the unorthodox explanation: The gene became part of the smelt genome through a direct horizontal transfer from a herring. It wasn’t through hybr

Dalit Participation in the 1875 Revolt

A closer look at the discourse on Dalit history begs answers for some important questions – Why and how has it become so easy to wipe out an entire history? Who are the beneficiaries of this erasure? Why is Dalit history not considered authentic? Who decides what ‘authentic’ really means? In present book, Author has attempted to establish historicity of Dalit participation in the 1857 Revolt in six chapters.  The 1857 Rev

The 1857 Revolt in Dalit Perspective

In fact the 1857 revolt has been completed more than 160 years but Dalit participation is not recognised till today. In fact then Dalit point of view was not being taken very seriously. It could be very easily labeled as pro-colonial and different from mainstream and ignored as an individualistic point of view. However feeble opposition it might have been but it is true that after 1859 there has been a long standing Shudra point of view which refused to accept 1857 as a national freedom struggle and have rejoiced that it was quelled and resulted in the continuous presence of the British in India. “History will, we conceive, take a very different view of the facts of the great Indian revolt of 1857 what the contemporaries have taken of them”. In it, the first and important voice was that of Jotirao Phule who had felicitated those Mahar soldiers who had helped the British in quelling the revolt. He had written a letter to the then Viceroy and expressed happiness that the British stayed

Paramahansa Yogananda Quotes—

“Live quietly in the moment and see the beauty of all before you. The future will take care of itself......” “Be as simple as you can be; you will be astonished to see how uncomplicated and happy your life can become.” “You must not let your life run in the ordinary way; do something that nobody else has done, something that will dazzle the world. Show that God's creative principle works in you.” “Making others happy, through kindness of speech and sincerity of right advice, is a sign of true greatness. To hurt another soul by sarcastic words, looks, or suggestions, is despicable.” “Live each moment completely and the future will take care of itself. Fully enjoy the wonder and beauty of each moment.” “There is a magnet in your heart that will attract true friends. That magnet is unselfishness, thinking of others first; when you learn to live for others, they will live for you.” “If you permit your thoughts to dwell on evil you yourself will become ugly. DALIT APPROACH TO RIGHTEOUS CONDUCT IN RELIGION

Mahatma Phule discussed an important aspect of religion in the Sarvajanik Satyadharma where he wondered as to who could be said to practise truthful (righteous) conduct! The following is in addition to the points alluded to in an earlier section: “Those who admit that men and women have been born independent from birth and are capable of enjoying every right, can be said to be practising righteous conduct. Those who do not worship the stars and stones, but have respect for the ‘Nirmik’ (Creator) of the universe, can be said to practise righteous conduct. Those who do not let other creatures enjoy all the things created by the Creator but offer them in empty worship to the ‘Nirmik’ cannot be said to practice righteous conduct. Those who do not torment in any way other living beings can be said to practice righteous conduct. Those who let others enjoy human rights and do not oppose them individually or collectively can be said to practice righteous conduct. All men and women have religi

Test Your Strength With This 3-Minute Plank

Image
N o matter your strength, holding a plank will eventually make your body shake. If planks are accessible to you and you’re looking to test your limits, a three-minute plank challenge is one of the best ways to assess your physical fitness, says Mike Donavanik , founder and CEO of digital fitness platform Sweat Factor . “[Being able to do this] means that one, you have great core strength and two, great core muscular endurance ,” says Donavanik. “With the plank, so many other muscles are engaged like from your chest to your lats, obviously your core, but even your quads, your glutes if you’re doing it all right. To be able to hold a regular plank for a three-minute duration without any breaks is great. Anytime you can have movements to a plank too, I mean you’re just killing it if you can do that.” How to complete the 3-minute plank test You can do it on your hands or on your forearms, depending on which works better for you . 1. For the first minute, just hold. 2. Fo

How to Test Your Physical Fitness

I t’s not always easy to gauge how your fitness practices are paying off. Especially if you’re in a workout rut, seeing the results—or even knowing what to look for—can get a little confusing. Performing a few simple fitness tests can help you gain a better understanding of your physical and mental capabilities in order to determine which areas could use a little improvement. Below you’ll find seven of the best fitness tests to try at home or in the gym. The best fitness tests to give yourself a new challenge 1). 2,000-Meter Row The 2,000-meter row is a gold-standard among athletes and professional rowers (it’s the official distance in rowing competitions). Known for working out 86 percent of your body’s muscles , it’s also a great way to test your heart health. “It’s a true test of one’s lung capacity as well,” Annie Mulgrew, founding instructor at Cityrow , previously told Well+Good. “It requires that someone be not only in cardiovascular shape, so they can breathe an

What if your partner doesn’t seem interested in foreplay?

Image
Some people just don’t seem to care about foreplay. Yeah, being a lazy or selfish lover could be part of the problem, but it might just also come down to a lack of confidence in their skills or a lack of information about the how’s and why’s. Talking about what you want in bed isn’t always easy, especially if you’re worried about hurting or offending your partner. Here are some tips to make it a little easier: Start on a positive note. Instead of mentioning what they’re not doing, begin by telling them what they do that feels good and how you want more. For example: “I love it when you kiss my neck before we have sex. I could let you do that to me all night.” Don’t lay blame. Telling them your body’s craving something different will go over a lot better than telling them they’re not satisfying you. Show and tell. Sometimes a person needs a little extra encouragement. The next time you hug or kiss, hold them a little longer and gently guide their hands along your body whi

Mahatma Philosophy of God (Nirmik)

‘Nirmik’, meaning God, is the new term Jotiba has used for the Creator of the universe. He believed that terms hitherto coined for God, had grown out of practices and observances, of prayer or worship, which only created social rift amongst human beings. Hence, he eschewed terms such as Ishwar, Allah, Brahma, etc, According to him, service to mankind or defending human equality and freedom was in essence the true worship of God. Jotirao had written the Sarvajanik Satyadharma before his death but it was published posthumously. In the introduction to the book he said: In this vast, boundless space of ours the ‘Nirmik’ (Creator) has created all living beings along with innumerable solar systems and their planets and satellites. By the grace of God, I have written this humble book for the good of humanity, to show to men and women what kind of conduct to adopt towards others, with His thoughts always in their minds and which will please Him. I ask of Him that this book be accepted by all

Phule’s Concept of Human Rights and Justice

Mahatma Phule wanted to create a new social order in India based upon equality, justice, liberty and fraternity. He sacrificed his life for the upliftment of untouchables, peasants and women. In this way, he was the first person to emphasize human rights. He made powerful pleas to abolish untouchability and the entire caste system and revolted against the unjust caste-system under which millions of people had suffered for centuries. The Dalit at that time did not have any political, social, educational and economic rights. He condemned dual morality of the Brahman system. He said equal opportunity should get to all people. He said by birth all are free and equal. All human beings have natural rights. He was a militant advocate of human rights to the downtrodens (http://www.ncdhr.org.in/ndmj).  Savitribai Phule is an inspiration of movement for the liberation of backward and weaker sections from oppressive social system. She successfully confronted against many evil social practices an

Rape and Sexual Violence in Hinduism

Image
Hindu law books place great emphasis upon protecting women to prevent atrocities against them. They recognize the role women play in the propagation and continuation of dharma and preservation of family traditions and lineages. They put women on a high pedestal, for they recognize their role in the order and regularity of the world. According to a Vedic belief, a married woman not only is the wife of her husband but also becomes his mother, as he is again born through her as her child. Thus, the wife is key to the continuation of a householder and his lineage in this world and in the next. Therefore, the law books recognize the need for a happy family and a happy household, in which the parents live in harmony with each other and contribute to the promotion and preservation of dharma. They highlight the importance of treating women with respect and honor as a part of a householder’s obligatory duty. That duty begins
