  Ayurvedic Treatment of Tumours etc. in Ashtang Hridayam We shall now expound the Granthi-arbuda-slipada apaci nadi pratisedha adhyaya (treatment of granthi-arbuda, slipada apaci and nadi); thus said Atreya and other great sages.  Treatment of benign tumour For granthi (benign tumours) which is unripe, the treat ment is like that of any sopha (swelling). The patient requiring purificatory therapies should be given oleation therapy first with ghee prepared with brhati; citraka, vyaghri and kana; after he gets purified, application of paste of drugs of penetrating action should be done (on the tumour); the tumour should be given fomentation many times and squeezed (by the hands) again and again. this is the method of treatment especially for tumour of vata origin.   Knowledge of Tumours, Cancer, Filariasis Scrofula-sinus Ulcer (Granthi-Arbudaslipada-Apaci-nadi Vijnaniya) described by Vaghbhatt  We shall now expound the chapter Granthi-arbudaslipada apaci-nadi vijnaniya-knowledge of tumours, cancer, filariasis, scrofula and sinus ulcer; thus said Atreya and other great sages.  Granthi (benign tumour) Malas (dosas) of which kapha is the predominant one, invading the fat, muscle and blood produce a round, raised swelling (new growth) known as Granthi because of its knotty (lumpy) nature.  Treatment of fractures (Bhanga Pratisedha) in  Ashtang Hridayam We shall now expound the chapter– Bhanga pratisedha (treatment of fractures); thus said Atreya and other great sages.  Bones get broken ( fractured ) from a fall from height, assault etc; it is of two kinds, a. sandhigata-localised in the joint and b. asandhigata-in places other then the joints; inability for expansion (extension) and contraction (flexion etc.) and dislocation of the joint are the features of the first kind; whereas in the second kind profound swelling and severe pain in all positions, inability even for slight movement, production of cracking sound on rubbing are the features of fractures in brief.
